Dead Dame on the Floor: A Hank Bradshaw Short Story by Mick Hunter contains a lot in only fourteen pages. It's about Hank Bradshaw's hearing his friend, Nancy, get murdered while he's on the phone with her. He wants to find out what happened and punish who did it. I gave it four stars.
