Black Moon Sing (The Turquoise Path Book 1) by L. M. Hawke is about Ellery Chee, a coyote shifter who needs to stop a dangerous magician. It is a compelling tale that kept my interest from start to finish. I gave it five stars. It is the first book in an urban fantasy series and ends with a cliffhanger.
She received puzzling texts from her friend Vivi and has gone hunting for her. She bumps into a man and he responds: "'Out of my way, you...jick,' he spat. Jick: the slur of choice among the more hostile Typicals, short for 'magical' It might have upset some of Ellery's Paranormal friends but far worse had been said and done to Ellery and her family in the name of ignorance and fear."
I eagerly look forward to reading Red Fire Glow and have added L.M. Hawke's books to my wishlist.
