Cursed (The Thrice Cursed Mage) (Volume 1) - J. A. Cipriano

Cursed: An Urban Fantasy Novel (The Thrice Cursed Mage Book 1) by J.A. Cipriano is a paranormal, suspense-filled book. It has non-stop action. I gave it four stars.

Mac Brennan is the protagonist who wakes in a dumpster, covered in blood with no memory of his own history or how he got into the dumpster.

"Even if I could have managed to cry out, there was no way for someone to hear me scream over the roar of the punishing hydraulics destined to compact me into pulp. Not that it mattered. If I survived the fall into the metal jaws below, I was going to be pretty damned dead about a second later when the automated press punched my teeth through my brain....howl of pain ripped from my throat as I hung there, trash cascading down around me from the dumpster like rain from a hideous, disgusting storm cloud."

He rescued Sera from a couple of thugs in a laundromat. She didn't usually go there but the washers were on the fritz in the apartments where she lived. Later after she took him home, she expressed: “They say only death and taxes are absolute, but I don’t think the people who say that have to deal with laundry and dirty dishes.” I've always called laundry and dirty dishes the true never-ending story.

Sera took Mac to Jack's, a friend's bar. "He moved along the bar in my general direction, and the brunette shot the back of his head a glare that could have melted glass. It made me immediately glad she hadn’t turned it on me....Sera let out another sigh, and I was starting to think she might be able to medal in sighing if it were an Olympic sport."

I enjoyed this book so much I purchased the other four to read next: Marked, Burned, Seized and Claimed. I highly recommend this action-packed thriller.
