Vertical City, A Zombie Thriller Part 2 by George S. Mahaffey, Jr.
Vertical City, A Zombie Thriller Part 2 by George S. Mahaffey, Jr. is a hypnotic, page-turning book.
I gave it four stars. While it was action-packed, full of suspense & entertaining, it did need editing for incorrect grammar & homonyms. There was one blatant misuse of a word that caught my attention. A character had her neck bitten by a zombie & it was described as being eviscerated. A neck cannot be disemboweled.
Wyatt is describing the infirmary: "This is where the physically ill & people deemed 'fragile' are kept: those broken at birth, the severely mentally ill, the perpetually hopeless, & folks who have seen shit which cannot be easily understood."
I move down a corridor of slump-shouldered fragiles, mostly men & women in grubby clothes with lifeless eyes."
I normally hate cliff hangers & will delete stars from sheer frustration when I find one. This author uses them well. I was not left gasping for breath but with an eagerness to know what was next. I was intrigued enough to purchase the other two books of the series.
I look forward to reading them.
