“Every once in a while you meet someone so full of life they sweep you up with their enthusiasm. Claire was like that.”
“The news about Claire struck me as bewildering & inexpressibly sad. The living may ask why, but the dead don’t answer.”
There are many twists & turns in this story & a supply of suspects, even though the police seem to latch on to the least likely of them, an employee of the vet’s office, Eugene.
“‘Eugene would never harm anything he loved.’ My instincts told me that was true. The Eugene I worked with never showed any anger toward any animal or person he worked with.”
Can Dr. Kate solve this mystery before the killer ends her life?
I gave this mystery five stars because the characters were well drawn & it kept me guessing. I will look for more of Eileen Brady’s books.
