I received a free kindle copy of Black Dog: A Cooper & Fry Mystery (Cooper & Fry Mysteries) by Stephen Booth in an Amazon promotion in exchange for a fair review.
I gave this murder mystery five stars. I liked it because the characters were well developed & it kept me guessing. It kept me turning the pages into the wee hours of the morning.
The suspect in this was an elderly man named Harry. He was of few words but filled with innate dignity.
Here are two quotes that I found interesting:
"Now that the physical attraction had gone & the romance had long since settled into a numb familiarity, there was still a quality in her husband that could make her voice soften & her pale eyes shift out of focus, as if she were looking beyond the walls of the cottage to the shadows of a happier past."
"But there were times when, no matter what you did, no matter how you tried, there was always someone you were letting down. And it was usually yourself."
For an intriguing read, I highly recommend this suspense-filled thriller Black Dog. I will now look for more of Stephen Booth's books.
